Hub City Hero Juanita Jones selected by drawing to receive $1,000 to donate to a charity of her choice
Posted on 01/28/2022

JACKSON, Tenn. – Keep My Hood Good Community Campaign founder and Executive Director Juanita Jones was selected by random drawing as the 2021 Hub City Hero. Jones will receive $1,000 to donate to a charity of her choice.

Jones began her remarks by congratulating each of the Hub City Heroes represented each month in 2021 and by saying that each of them “can make this community better.” Jones said that it is a surreal feeling.

“I’m in disbelief. I feel like I hit the lottery,” said Jones during her interview. “I feel that these winnings will bring the attention to our children and it will help our children break the generational and poverty cycles in families.”

Jones plans to donate 100% of the winnings back into Keep My Hood Good, which is local nonprofit that promotes personal, civic and community responsibility for underserved, underprivileged youth through structured activities that encourage breaking the generational poverty cycle. The campaign serves as many as 26 students from local schools each week teaching them the principles of accountability, excellence, integrity, and respect of self and to others.

“Congratulations to Juanita on being selected for the $1,000 prize. Her humbleness and dedication to the children she serves and her community are true traits of what a hero is,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “I would also like to congratulate all of the Hub City Heroes who were represented in 2021. I’m honored that they choose to live and represent Jackson, TN.”

“Hub City Heroes” selflessly and steadily give of their time and talent to improve the lives of others in the community. Recognition as a hero is one small way to thank these public servants for their efforts and it gives honorees the opportunity to raise awareness for causes that are important to them.
